Setsu and Shinobu Ito Biography Following his Master in Production Management at Tsukuba University Setsu Ito was involved in a number of research projects with important Japanese companies. He then moved to Milan where he initially worked in studio Alchimia and then in the studio of Angelo Mangiarotti. During these years of intense cultural stimulation his interests ranged from industrial design to architecture and his unique style crystallised.
Shinobu Ito graduated at Tama Art University in Tokyo and obtained her Master in Design Direction at the Domus Academy in Milan. During these years Shinobu was involved in many projects relating to packaging, industrial design and marketing. Whilst working for Sony Creative Products between 1988 and 1995, she introduced and managed several projects from concept through to their successful launch. In 1997 Setsu and Shinobu opened Studio Ito Design and today provide consulting to many well known companies both in Japan and Europe. Their client list includes: De Padova, Edra, Sony CP Laboratories, Sharp and Canon. One style, their style, innovative and dynamic with fluid forms the fruit of their complementary talents and of the combination of their experience in Italy with their Japanese culture. A comprehensive approach to design that encompasses areas from graphics to packaging, from architecture to interior design, from decorative objects to electronics. Setsu and Shinobu have received numerous recognitions for their work that has been published and exhibited across Europe and in Japan with some of their pieces being included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Munich. Setsu also lectures at the Domus Academy and the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and at the Tama Art University in Tokyo. Photos |
