Born in 1947 in Celle, Germany.
After an apprenticeship with a cabinet maker, he began working with interior design studios. Later he created a number of small mail-order businesses to sell his own furniture designs (Beedesign, Workshopdesign, Armgardt zerlegbare Möbel). He also became a member of “Designer Collegium International” together with Prof. Auwi Stübbe.
His work then shifted toward experimentation with the use of raw cardboard and paper in the production of furniture. In his production, he seeks an ecological, sustainable and lasting way of designing.
He works with many prestigious European furniture brands.
Many shows of his work have been organized in Germany and other countries.
In 1992 he became a professor at the FH Coburg (a professional training institute on a university level), where he has held lectures and workshops.
From 1997 to 1999 he taught at the Staatliche Korbfachschule Lichtenfels (state institute of professional training in basket making), conducting workshops and courses.

He has received many prizes and international honors for his products.
Since 1998 he is a professor at FH Aachen (FH – university-level professional training institute), in the Design department.
He now lives and works in Schondorf am Ammersee.
