Simplicity, refinement, and comfort were the qualities sought by the owners of this renovated barn on an estate in Inanda, South Africa. Architect Jo Van Rooyen designed a contemporary, minimalist urban barn, defined by large open spaces where natural light takes center stage. Interior designer Julia Day from Julia Day Interior Architecture and Design created interconnected spaces that evoke a sense of calm, fully meeting the client’s original request.
To achieve this, she employed an open layout that also provides more private areas, enhancing the overall sense of tranquility and comfort within the residence. The result is a luxurious yet understated environment, where the refined design in both construction details and finishes welcomes the iconic De Padova furnishings. The Louisiana and Albereta armchairs elevate the space with their elegant silhouettes, while the Chesto and Lady Pollack chairs add a touch of discreet elegance.
The Ishi and Dan coffee tables complement the minimalist design with refined details, harmonizing perfectly with the ’95 and Vidun tables. For moments of relaxation, the Raffles and Square 16 sofas offer a warm embrace, while the Firefly lamp creates a soft, welcoming atmosphere, perfectly in line with the overall concept.
Selected for their simplicity, elegance, and exceptional craftsmanship, these iconic pieces naturally complete the architectural concept, infusing the entire contemporary interior design project with timeless sophistication.
