Residence, Inanda

Simplicity, refinement and comfort were what the owners of this urban barn home in the Inanda, South Africa, estate were seeking. The architect Jo Van Rooyen designed a stripped-back, contemporary barn that hinges on openness and light.

Interior designer Julia Day of Julia Day Interior Architecture and Design
created an interior with interleading spaces that speak to the senses, and that evoke a feeling of calm as well as cater to the client’s lifestyle.
To achieve this, she used an open and flowing layout consisting of intimate areas that rank high on the comfort scale. To conceive a home that was both luxurious and understated required thoughtful design detailing of wall finishes, a palette of muted and natural textures and a show-stopping selection of iconic De Padova furniture, chosen for its honesty, purity and exceptional handcrafted quality which ensured that the interior design resonated with the architect’s concept.
